Journey through time with us as we look back at Mayday’s evolution from its inception in 1979 to the present day along with some significant industry milestones from the birth of multifunctional printers to partnering with Norwich City Football Club.
1978 – Mayday Incroporated (East Saxon Ltd)
Supplying Digital Typewriters, Stationery & Office Furniture.
1980 – Name Change to Mayday
Business Name changes from East Saxon Ltd to Mayday Office Equipment Services Ltd. Changed to Mayday on the 1st May in honour of May Day.
1987 – Industry Introduces Thermal Fax Machines
Our product line has grown to include thermal roll facsimile machines from top brands like Panasonic and BT.
1988 – The Introduction of Digial Duplicaters
Digital duplicators were introduced to deliver fast, reliable, and cost-effective monochrome copying solutions. These machines revolutionised high-volume printing by combining the speed and simplicity of digital technology with the efficiency of traditional duplication methods.
1996 – Introduction of Multifunctional Printers
Introduction of multifunctional printers (MFP) all-in-one devices that combines several key office functions into a single machine, including printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Designed to improve efficiency and save space, MFPs eliminate the need for multiple devices, making them ideal for businesses, home offices, and educational institutions.
2001 – Mayday Acquires ACOE Ltd
On 2nd Janurary 2001 Mayday joins forces with Acoe (Airport Copying and Office Equipment Ltd). Prior to the sale, ACOE was jointly owned by David Loombe and his business partner, Patrick Condron. David was Mayday’s current Managing Director’s father.
2003 – Mayday Branding
A glimpse at the Mayday branding cira 2003 prior to the current orange rondell logo we have today. This logo was used to brand the business in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
2005 – Mayday Re-Brand
Mayday re-designs it’s logos and branding to a more simplist design along with the iconic orange rondell featured. The branding is still used within the business today.
2007 – Mayday Acquires Office Plus
Mayday acquires Office Plus following the retirement of the Directors. This added Toshiba to the product range of multifunctional devices offered by Mayday.
2010 – Mayday Acquires E.A.C Document Solutions Ltd
Mayday Integrated Office Systems aquired EAC Document Solutions, whose founders decided to retire. The acquisition of family-owned EAC saw Mayday take on a 300-strong customer base and takes the firm’s combined turnover to 3m with more than 1,000 customers.
2015 – Mayday Sponsors the GoGo Dragons
In 2015 Mayday partnered with Break Charity to support the GoGo Dragon trail around Norwich City centre. 84 sculptures where placed in and around the city. Mayday’s dragon “IndyGoGo500” designed in memory of Lotus racing car Type 38 which famous race car driver Jim Clark participarted in the Indianapolis 500 in 1964. The dragon was on display in the Chappelfield Mall during the summer of 2015.
Mayday has gone on to sponsor a futher three trails, the most recent will be in the summer of 2025, GoGo Safari.
2016 – Mayday Acquires Abacus Copiers And Office Machines
Mayday aquires Abacus Copiers, previously based in Dereham. This expanded Mayday’s customer base throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.
2018 – Mayday Partners With Norwich City Football Club
Norwich City announce a new partnership with Mayday Office Equipment Services, Norfolk’s premier suppliers of photocopiers, IT systems and office supplies. Supplying Carrow Road Stadium and Colney Training Ground with a brand new fleet of Toshiba Multifunctional Printers. Mayday also becoming the offical team sheet sponsors and designers.
Mayday continues it’s partnership to date with the club.
2019 – Mayday Keeps it "Local" in Management Buyout
Mayday Office Equipment Services, completes management buy-out by Operations Director Karen Aldred, Commercial Director Jamie Mulhall and Sales Director Adam Northcut. Karen Aldred, becoming the new Managing Director.
2024 – Mayday Group Holdings Ltd Acquires Norfolk Copiers Ltd.
Norfolk Copiers Ltd joins forces with Mayday Office Equipment Services Ltd offering a wealth of engineering experience and a wide portfolio of brands and products to support our customers.
